PSY 3010 - Psychology Applied to Teaching (3) When Offered: Fall; Spring GEN ED: Liberal Studies Experience This course provides an overview of the development of the student and an analysis of the principles of classroom learning, classroom management, and behavioral guidance. Research-based theories of child and adolescent development and major concepts, theories, and research in the acquisition of knowledge and interpersonal social skills and in the guidance and management of student behavior in the classroom are examined and critiqued. The course introduces students to research and theory on group and individual differences; various types of diversity, including characteristics of students with disabilities and students from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds; and foundational concepts and principles of educational assessment and accountability. Applications and implications for teaching and learning are emphasized.
