NUT 4225 - Food Systems, Sustainability, and Society (3)

This course explores the intricate interplay between food systems, sustainability, and society within the context of public health nutrition. Food security, environmental degradation, and societal well-being are inextricably linked, and understanding the dynamic relationships between these factors is crucial for effective public health nutrition practitioners. Through a comprehensive exploration of theoretical frameworks, empirical evidence, and case studies, students will develop a nuanced understanding of how food systems and sustainability practices impact society’s health and wellbeing.  
Prerequisite: Major in Nutrition and Foods Nutrition and Wellness Concentration or permission of the department.
