ANT 3405 - Anthropological Data Science (3) When Offered: On Demand An introduction to how computers, quantitative methods, and anthropological data can be used to address anthropological questions. The course focuses on hands-on learning using R and other programming languages in order to investigate data of interest to anthropologists. This is an introductory, beginner-friendly class for students and assumes no prior experience with computers, programming, or statistics. Topics include exploratory data analysis, how to understand statistical methods, data visualization, and communication. We will use these data science tools to tackle questions about past and contemporary human societies. Prerequisites: 6 semester hours in anthropology
