GEN ED: Historical Studies Designation; Humanities and Its Systems
This course will examine the historical context and musical practices of European and American Women musicians from the late 18th century to the present. By investigating women’s musical education, opportunities for composition and performance, and listening/audience habits and trends, students will consider the ways in which women’s musical lives have been shaped–in reality and in the imaginary. Includes a study abroad option.
Prerequisite: MUS 2617 .
