U_S 1200 - Student Success First Year Seminar (3)

When Offered: Fall; Spring; Summer Session
GEN ED: First Year Seminar
The Student Success First Year Seminar supports students in their transition to the university through the development of the habits, academic skills, and practical strategies that promote academic success and holistic well-being. The course emphasizes the central tenets of a liberal arts education, including thinking critically and creatively, communicating effectively, developing intercultural competency, and engaging in college-level research using information literacy skills.

Students will examine the concept of student success from multiple perspectives and cultivate a curiosity about their own success through inquiry-driven research. Through reflective writings, constructive dialogues, and interactive activities, students will engage with the common reader, be introduced to expectations for college-level work, and build connections with the App State community.
