Professional Education Requirements (24 Hours)
A minimum grade of “C” (2.0) must be earned in all Professional Education Courses by Teacher Education majors.
NOTE:
To be admitted to the Teacher Education, students must have a minimum 2.7 cumulative GPA, completed 45 semester hours, completed criminal background check and successfully completed testing requirements for Reading, Writing and Math areas of the PRAXIS I CORE (or exempt based on SAT or ACT scores). Major Requirements (64 Hours)
A minimum grade of “C” (2.0) is required in each ART course for the major. 18 hours must be completed at Appalachian.
- Junior Writing in the Discipline
- Senior Capstone Experience must be met
Foundations / Studio Requirements (12 Hours)
Art Electives (28 Hours)
27 hours must be studio art courses, five or more taken at or above 2000 level.
Total Required (120 Hours)
Teacher licensure programs require a minimum 2.7 cumulative GPA from admission into the teacher education program until graduation, including for admission to student teaching.
