Foundations of American Democracy Requirement (3 Hours)


Foundations of American Democracy Requirement  

Three (3) credits of Foundations of American Democracy (FAD) are required for degree completion. Courses that meet this requirement may also be used to meet other major, minor, or General Education requirements.

General Education Requirements (41 Hours)


(ARH 2030 , ARH 2130 , and COM 2105  if taken for the major may count toward General Education)

Major Requirements (84 Hours)


A minimum grade of “C” (2.0) is required in each ART,, ARH, and PHO course. 18 semester hours must be completed at Appalachian State University.

  • Junior Writing in the Discipline (WID)
  • Senior Capstone Experience (CAP) must be met

Portfolio Review


  • GD Candidacy Portfolio Review

Courses noted # and either ARH 2030  or ARH 2130  must be completed prior to GD Candidacy Portfolio Review

Note


Students who pass candidacy portfolio review are required to have a laptop computer & software that meets minimum graphic design program specifications.

And 3 hours of ART History Electives to Fulfill the Junior Writing in the Discipline Requirement

Studio Art or Photography Electives (12 Hours)


Choose 12 hours of Studio Art or Photography courses. At least 3 hours must be a 3000-level course, or higher.

Choose six (6) credit hours from either Marketing or Related Areas in Professional Development
