Foundations of American Democracy Requirement (3 Hours)


Foundations of American Democracy Requirement  

Three (3) credits of Foundations of American Democracy (FAD) are required for degree completion. Courses that meet this requirement may also be used to meet other major, minor, or General Education requirements.

General Education Requirements (41 Hours)


MAT 1020  fulfills the Quantitative Literacy requirement. ARH 2130  and IND 1401  taken for the major may count toward General Education.

Major Requirements (86 Hours)


18 hours must be completed at Appalachian. Students must pass IND 2000 - Sophomore Portfolio Review (0) , and declare the IND major to advance to upper level courses.

Transfer students need to take a summer course sequence in order to be eligible for sophomore portfolio review in the spring of their first full year (DSN 1010 , IND 1201 , and DSN 1001 ).

  • Junior Writing in the Discipline (WID)
  • Senior Capstone Experience (CAP) must be met
