Foundations of American Democracy Requirement (3 Hours)


Foundations of American Democracy Requirement  

Three (3) credits of Foundations of American Democracy (FAD) are required for degree completion. Courses that meet this requirement may also be used to meet other major, minor, or General Education requirements.

General Education Requirements (41 Hours)


PHY 1170  & PHY 1180  or PHY 1123  & PHY 1124  will fulfill Science Inquiry. MAT 1110  fulfills Quantitative Literacy.

Major Requirements (63-64 Hours)


Not including 12 hours counted in General Education Requirements, above 2.0 major GPA is required for graduation. Major GPA calculation will include all courses taken in the major department, plus any other courses under Major Requirements. Minimum of 18 semester hours of courses taken to fulfill major requirements must be courses offered by Appalachian.

Note: Students enrolled as undergraduates at Appalachian State University may request permission to take graduate courses if they will be seniors in the semester of enrollment and have at least a 3.0 GPA. For dual listed courses, juniors may enroll with permission of the department. The request form can be found on the Graduate School website, and it requires both department and Graduate School approval.
