Foundations of American Democracy Requirement (3 Hours)


Foundations of American Democracy Requirement  

Three (3) credits of Foundations of American Democracy (FAD) are required for degree completion. Courses that meet this requirement may also be used to meet other major, minor, or General Education requirements.

General Education (41 Hours)


SPECIAL NOTE: It is recommended that Elementary Education majors take ENG 2360  along with one of the following: ART 2022 , MUS 2022 , or THR 2022 .

Professional Education Requirements (24 Hours)


A minimum grade of “C” (2.0) must be earned in all Professional Education Courses by Teacher Education majors.

NOTE:


To be admitted to Teacher Education, students must have a minimum 2.7 cumulative GPA, completed 30 semester hours, completed criminal background check and successfully completed testing requirements for Reading, Writing and Math areas of the PRAXIS I CORE (or exempt based on SAT or ACT scores). Major Requirements (55 Hours)


MUST complete with a minimum grade of “C” (2.0)

Block I (6 Hours)


MUST take concurrently after admission to teacher education before Block II. EDU 3000  must be taken as part of Block I.

Block II (15 Hours)


MUST take concurrently after admission to teacher education after Block I, and before Block III

K-9 STEM Concentration (14 Hours)


MUST complete before Block III

Block III (15 Hours)


MUST take concurrently after admission to teacher education, after Block II, and before student teaching

EDU 3100  needs to be taken as part of Block III

Electives (2 Hours)


Taken to total 120 hours for the degree

Note


A student must have at least a 2.70 grade-point average to be admitted to the teacher education program, and must maintain a 2.70 grade-point average overall through student teaching.
