Important Beginning Courses
- Academic concentration
- You are required to complete three hours each of fine arts (FA), historical studies (HS), literary studies (LS), and social science (SS) courses within the Integrative Learning Experience and/or the Liberal Studies Experience.
Suggested General Education
Good to know …
- Must be proficient in Speech and English and have a 2.70 GPA before being admitted to the Reich College of Education. You will need to apply for admission to the Reich College of Education at the end of your sophomore year. Check your SAT/ACT scores to determine you need to take Praxis I prior to admission in the RCOE. A grade of 2.0 minimum is required in each professional education course required.
- Students should select Second Academic Concentration (SAC) in consultation with Dr. Jerianne Taylor.
- The SAC requires 18 hours of coursework in an approved concentration area. MATERIALS SCIENCE, SUSTAINABLE DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY, GRAPHIC COMMUNICATION, SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING, AND MATHEMATICS (STEM) or Math, Science and Technology recommended as an academic concentration.
- If a TEC class is recommended during the freshman year (according to a 4-year plan) and all sections are full, intended majors should see the faculty coordinator of that program area to try to get into the class.
- Advising is required when officially declared into the major.
- A student must have at least a 2.70 grade-point average to be admitted to the teacher education program and must maintain a 2.70 grade-point average overall through student teaching.
