Foundations of American Democracy Requirement (3 Hours)


Foundations of American Democracy Requirement  

Three (3) credits of Foundations of American Democracy (FAD) are required for degree completion. Courses that meet this requirement may also be used to meet other major, minor, or General Education requirements.

General Education (41 Hours)


Eighteen hours of major requirements fulfill General Education requirements:

Elective courses in the major may fulfill up to an additional six (6) hours of General Education requirements:

Major Requirements (98 Hours)


An overall 2.0 GPA is required in the major. 18 semester hours must be completed at Appalachian.

  • Junior Writing in the Discipline (WID)
    and
  • Senior Capstone Experience (CAP) must be met

General Education courses also required for the major (12 Hours)


Minor / Certificate Not Required


Recommended minors include: Sustainable Development, General Business, Sustainable Business, Community and Regional Planning, Building Science, Physics, and Computer Science. Recommended Certificates include: Geographic Information Systems, Electric Vehicle, and Photovoltaics. The Electric Vehicle and Photovoltaics Certificates can be earned in conjunction with Major Requirement and Major Elective Coursework.
